Our Journey

About His Glory Woodworks

As the name says, we give all glory to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ – the Father, the Son & the
Holy Spirit.

I am a ninth grade High School dropout – 1977, as working in the Oil Field, you did not need an
education back then. Well after about 8 years, the industry went into a slump – 1985 – my last two
years were offshore where safety was discussed daily. In 1987, our Lords plan for me was
education.

I received my GED, attended TSTI-Waco for my AS in Occupational Safety and Health.
1989 I then attended UT Tyler for my BS in Industrial Safety, working full time during the day
Monday thru Friday and attending college Monday thru Thursday nights from 6:00 – 10:00.

In 2017, After over 40 years in Oil & Gas industry – with over 30 years in a HSE role, working all
over the world, I decided to retire from Oil & Gas. My amazing bride of over 38 years (mother to
our amazing 25 yr daughter – with two AMAZING GRAND DAUGHTERS) asked me what I was going
to do. I told her, I either sell drugs (LOL) or sell BBQ! As I had cooked competition BBQ all over
the USA since 1993, winning over 600 awards – so I really know how to smoke meats, and it is SO
GOOD, it’s like a drug, once you taste it once, you got to keep going back for more!

After searching for almost 2 years, we finally found a piece of property we could afford. We
bought the land and had to tear down the old home as it was not repairable. I hired a day labor
“Pablo” to help us tear it down. After demo, I asked him to stay and help us build “Da Barn”. With
our Lords help – the best carpenter there ever was or ever will be, my bride, my daughter and her
boyfriend and Pablo, we started the journey.

We had a “red iron” barn built, then we built everything on the inside ourselves – interior walls, plumbing, electrical, spray foam insulation, wall and ceiling covering, tables, chairs, etc. We made our tables using 2″ thick, rough sawn mill cedar slabs, we sanded for days! Then covered them in Stone Coat counter-top epoxy, that WAS a learning curve!

Restaurant business is tough, working our best to stay open. It was these tables that our Lord led me to start His Glory Woodworks. As over the years, many customers have spoken of their beauty.

In 2023 I bought a 16’X32′ portable barn, wood working tools and equipment and started the next phase of our Lords plan for me.

We build custom cedar log & pine log furniture, custom porch swings, custom
charcuterie/cutting boards, custom epoxy river tables – dining, coffee or end tables, cedar planter
boxes, custom wall plaques, custom crosses, custom laser engraving.

If you can think it – we CAN BUILD IT!
